ESG & ISO 14064 Standard

ISO 14064 is an internationally-recognized standard for quantifying and monitoring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It provides guidance to organizations on how to plan, implement, verify and report emissions in a consistent fashion, as well as identify areas where improvements can be made.

  1. ISO 14064-1outlines the principles and requirements for quantifying and reporting GHG emissions and removals at the organizational level.
  2. ISO 14064-2 provides guidance for quantifying, monitoring, and reporting activities intended to reduce or enhance GHG emissions at the project level.
  3. ISO 14064-3 outlines the principles and requirements for validating and verifying GHG assertions. This standard is an important reference for conducting a GHG inventory for an organization.

Carbon Footprint Verification (CFV)

CFV is a crucial tool for organizations to accurately measure and understand their emissions and become ‘carbon neutral’. Through CFV, we can independently verify the accuracy of data and your carbon footprint, allowing you to understand the level of emissions you need to reduce and/or offset. This provides credibility to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that your carbon footprint calculations are transparent, accurate, complete, and compliant with major GHG reporting standards.

No longer can we rely on other businesses to tackle global warming. Each organization must take responsibility and verifying your carbon footprint is a great first step towards this goal.

GHG Verifier

Greenhouse gas (GHG) verifier is an individual or organization trained, qualified and accredited by a designated third-party certification body to verify the accuracy and completeness of GHG inventories, emission reduction/offset reports, project plans, operational control documents and other related activities. These parties report to organizations for compliance with government regulations and voluntary standards.

1st party verifier has the responsibility to provide assurance on emissions inventories prepared by own personnel or hired consultants in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. In contrast,

2nd party verifier provides independent verification services of the inventory system/process used for calculation of emissions/reductions for parties with no direct third-party verification requirements.

3rd party verifier provides assurance on an organization’s emissions inventories reported externally to customers, stakeholders or regulating bodies. Such external reports must adhere strictly to applicable rules set forth by governing legislation as well as international standards like ISO 14064.

What are the Benefit of ISO 14064?

In order to stay ahead of the curve, businesses should be preparing for future greenhouse gas legislation. By managing their carbon risk exposure and identifying areas for improvement, they can improve efficiency and reduce costs through reduced energy consumption. Demonstrating environmental responsibility can also help to gain credibility and motivate staff by involving them in carbon reduction plans. Taking these steps can help businesses stay competitive and ensure a sustainable future.
